Characteristics Chart

Some of my paintings are created with only one type of energy, and, accordingly, carry a more concentrated impulse with particular qualities and characteristics corresponding to that element. Others are created with two types of energy, and carry a more complex — mixed and expanded, spectrum of qualities.

You will also notice that there are only certain combinations of elements, which are available, since not all of them are compatible.

Fire is hot and dry. Air is hot and moist. Both Fire and Air tend to rise upward.

Water is cool and moist. Earth is cool and dry. Both Water and Earth tend to fall downward.

Obviously, Fire/Air, as well as Water/Earth are compatible. While interacting in those combinations, their powers strengthen.

Conversely, Fire and Water, as Air and Earth, are opposites and are antagonistic to each other, which basically means that their interaction would weaken or even diminish their powers, since one of them would over-power the other.

On the other hand combination of Fire/Earth and Water/Air are considered neutral, another words, elements in those combinations neither weaken nor intensify each other, they rather peacefully co-exist.

Additionally, besides the Four Main Elements, there are also the macrocosmic Manifestations of the Elements. Sometimes I prefer to use them while creating the certain painting, since each of them carries powers and abilities of Main “Parental” Element, as well as its own spectrum of unique characteristics and qualities.
